I bought this for use as a stand to hold my book when serving liturgy and to hold any notes when preaching. My own preference would be for a solid wood one, but I couldn't find anything suitably priced for a new church plant. It's much more solid than a music stand, which I like.I found this stand to be about as expected: it's unobtrusive and easy to move around, even with the heavy top. The adjustable feet are a nice touch to deal with uneven floors in old buildings.I have three suggested improvements:1. it'd be nice if they included some thread-locking adhesive on the bolts and inserts that hold the base together. I'm worried they'll work loose over time as the stand is moved around and then leave it rickety. I applied some blue threadlocker of my own to prevent this.2. The pencil stop is a metal bracket attached to the underside and extending up through a slot in the top. I wish it protruded a bit more on the top (beyond the current 1/4"), to better hold a book or, more importantly, two books stacked on top of each other. I'll probably pick up some anodized angle aluminum to replace the included one to get another 1/2" or so of height on it.3. The number of screws provided is sufficient to screw the top to the base and the pencil stop to the top, but there are not enough to screw into ALL the predrilled holes. Two holes will not have screws, IIRC. I'd feel better with ALL the predrilled holes used to for the top's attachment to the base. Add two more screws, OK? I'd use my own, but had no black ones of the required size.Nice stand, though. I'm happy. This is a very nice piece of furniture. I was somewhat worried given the price that it would end up being some sloppy poorly manufactured pressboard or something that would fall apart very easily. But it assembled quickly it is firm the one thing that I would add is slots into which you would screw the support knob. I think it would help lock the unit in place and would be immensely helpful when traveling. So far so good.I preach from this lectern every Sunday and it gets used for classes throughout the week. I was concerned that the lip to catch paper would be too small, but it's actually perfect. This is a good lectern and it's easy to adjust. However, the leveling legs are really not very good without some additional work. The knobs screw into a plastic end. If the knob (floor part) is not screwed all the way in, the plastic end pops out. Thus, you can't use the ends to level the lectern. I remedied this by using an epoxy to glue the plastic into the frame. Now the leveling screws can move up and down in the end cap without popping it out. It works great now. Also, be aware that every time you adjust the lectern's hight, you get a little circle cut into the paint by the bolt that holds it in place. It's to the back to the lectern (if you assemble it correctly) so it's not much of a concern, but it is a little unsightly and could be a problem if that side of the lectern will be visible (if you were going to use this for a guest sign-in station, for example). Otherwise, it works great.I purchased this item for use at an off site wedding over which I was to preside.I found the price to be very reasonable considering the quality of the product. It is easy to assemble, easy to break down into two pieces and put back together, and the height has a very good range which is also easily adjusted with the twistof a knob. There are adjustable balance levels on the four legs to prevent wobblingand it is sturdy enough to support me when I lean forward on it to speak. Its looksare quite attractive as well and it has a pencil ledge to hold documents in place. The wood grain is of fine quality as well. Its width is also perfect and hold a bindersized book open comfortably. Also, if you are a preacher or public speaker, this isperfect for practicing at home before speaking - even if you're using a differentlectern or pulpit when you speak at your venue. This is the best portable lectern I have ever used. I highly recommend it.This is perfect! It's not to heavy to carry to meetings (remove top from bottom to conveniently fit in trunk). Top is screwed onto stand (top piece), but it actually makes it easy to handle and carry. Top easily slides out of base (where you see the hand/tightening screw [in picture]). Top is nice and large; my computer and mouse/trackball fits nicely on surface with plenty of room left over, even though my laptop is a larger one. I haven't found anything bad about this. It's exactly what I wanted and works perfectly. My main concern was the weight, because I've used similar ones that were over 25 lbs and that's a little heavy to carry along to every meeting. I would guess this one is around 10 lbs or so. Easy to assemble too! Basically attaching 2 pieces to the base foot and then attaching the top surface to top stand pole. That's it.The appearanceExactly what it appears to be, and well made considering the price. I would recommend this for anyone who needs a stationary lectern. I use it in my home office as an extra work space. The tilt makes it easy to read papers and diagrams from a side position while seated at my desk. Nothing fancy, but a nice product. Easily assembled.I agree with the comment made by another reviewer that the pencil ledge should be a bit taller. It's not good for holding a loose stack of papers, for instance. But that's a small quibble. The product was easy to assemble and is made of quality material. However the paper stop is too low. You have to be very careful in placing a device such as a tablet or phone.
